Handel starves to
compose Messiah

He wrote Messiah in 24 days! This was no minor effort! Handel
hardly ate for three weeks while he worked on this piece. His
servant brought his breakfast every morning and picked up the
untouched breakfast dishes when he dropped off the supper tray…When
he had finished he came out of his room declaring "I did think I
saw all of heaven open before me…and the great God
himself". |
